SON Modules for RAN OEMs
Substantial intelligence has been incorporated within baseband processing of wireless systems with the evolution from 2G to 3G to 4G (e.g., AMC, MIMO, etc.). Yet even the most advanced wireless networks of today remain unintelligent from a multi-site intelligence perspective. Eden Rock Communications has led the innovation and algorithm creation for a new layer of network intelligence for real-time multi-site coordination of radio resources within a Self Organizing Network (SON) framework.
Based on Eden Rock’s highly innovative patented algorithms, Eden-NET SON Modules for RAN OEMs perform real-time multi-site radio resource management (RRM) for LTE networks. The Eden-NET SON Modules deliver leading-edge LTE network performance. Eden-NET SON Modules require no pre-configuration and support femto, pico, micro and macro class eNodeBs. The Eden-NET SON Modules for RAN OEMs include the Eden-NET Software Agent which is embedded within the eNodeB and centralized Eden-NET SON software.
The novel Eden-NET Coordinated-Multipoint Coordinated Scheduling (CoMP-CS) and Coordinated-Multipoint Coordinated Beamforming (CoMP-CB) solution coordinates the transmit power and transmit phase settings for traffic channels for each eNodeB within an LTE network. The Eden-NET SON Modules dynamically leverage real-time RF interference and capacity metrics within the eNodeB in order to define optimal radio resource maps and provide the greatest performance benefit across the LTE network.
Eden-NET leverages its radio resource mapping structure to provide additional functionality of real-time detection and isolation of RF interference from sources external to the LTE network. RF interference from external sources is a common problem for operators which today generally goes unnoticed until network degradation becomes severe, at which time operators employ time consuming, manual processes to track the interference sources.
